Keep
these things in your mind while selecting a DVR
Frames
Per Second
The frames per second is the number of frames recorded
by the DVR in one second. Real time recording on each
camera is about 30 fps.The New technology has made real
time recording affordable. If you are recording cash
registers or something similar then you must select
real time recording
Hard
Drive
The size of hard drive space determines the number of
hours of recording you can store, before the system
starts overwriting on the stored video. Each DVR has
its storage capacity listed in the specifications. But
this specification is just a rough estimate as there
are other external factors that also affects hard drive
space. The most critical factor being the compression
format used by the DVR. The type of cameras connected
to the DVR will also make a difference (specifically
the chip size and resolution). Another factor are the
features selected on the DVR. Features like scheduling,
motion detection, tuning of the frame rate takes up more
space on the hard drive. Even the field of view (what
you are recording) will affect the storage capacity
- the more complex the image, the more hard drive space
it will take to capture the complexity.
