What
is RAID Technology?
A RAID is a "Redundant array
of Independent Disks", a set of standard commercial hard
disks which the operating system sees and treats as if it
were a enormous single logical hard disk. In their simplest
form RAIDs use either a striping( RAID-0) or mirroring( RAID-1)
format in storing the data. RAID-5 is the configuration of
most interest for CCTV applications. RAID-5 is largly implemented
by airport operators, banks, casinos, logistics companies,
a road toll operator, power stations and town centers.
What
is Video compression?

Video compression digital data recorded by DVR can be compressed
and saved in special hard disk which can be reviewed later.
Video compression plays an important role in overall operation,
properly compressed video can also save disk space. All DVRs
use some kind of compression algorithm called a codec to keep
the digital video files at a manageable size.

How
to save more data on small space?
One
of the ways to reduce the disc space by sampling and recording
the frames at lower than the full 25 frame per second
rate. The combination of file size and storage rate will
give a figure for storage capacity per second. for example:
to store 30Kb file at 3.13 frames/sec requires 30*3.13=
93.9KB = 0.34Gb per hr
